IDF Enters Gaza, Kills 6 Hamas Terrorists

Israeli fighter pilots and ground troops were busy in Gaza late Tuesday night for the first time since since the temporary truce with Hamas terrorists who control the region began on June 19.

Israel Air Force pilots struck two terrorist cells in southern Gaza that were preparing to launch mortar shells at Israel late Tuesday night. In the first strike, at least three Arab terrorists were killed and several others were wounded, according to local sources. Shortly after, a second cell was hit in a similar IAF strike. The IDF confirmed the hit. IDF troops killed one terrorist and wounded two others a couple of hours earlier in central Gaza while trying to destroy a tunnel intended to be used by terrorists while kidnapping soldiers. Palestinian Authority sources said the operation was carried out at the home of the Abu Hamam family. The Israeli forces were operating while under fire from Palestinian Authority gunmen, said the sources.

Total terrorists dead in the operation: 6.

According to ynet, a security official noted Wednesday morning that the operation was necessary and inevitable in light of the intelligence that has accumulated. He stressed that this was a pin-point operation, and that there was no intention to expand it below the predetermined scope.

Now, if only Souther Command could have a set of bells to tell the meddling fools in the Government no put a sock in their yaps, and go for the jugular - ....

Ever since the Philadelphi Route between Gaza and Egypt was breached, Hamas has
been bringing high-quality weaponry into the Strip, which has made it possible to fire beyond Ashkelon, as far as Kiryat Gat and Ashdod. Hamas in Gaza currently has firepower that must be dealt with immediately. If you don't take care of this problem now, then it will become more severe. The more time passes, the operation that will eventually be carried out will cost more casualties and more dead soldiers. In late 2006, a Military Intelligence analysis indicated that Hamas was developing weapons to use against Israeli fighter planes and, eventually, against civilian aircraft. Brig.-Gen. Baidatz said at the time that Israel must come up with a solution to protect its planes from the new weapons, or else imperil its entire aviation industry. Such weapons in Judea and Samaria would endanger air traffic at Ben-Gurion International Airport. Comment by Matt on November 5, 2008 at 5:22am: After listening to months of trash from our media in the USA, I'm glad I have the Israel Insider to turn to for my news. I would have never heard (even this story) the truth about anything going on anywhere. Here in the states, while people have TRIED to cover the story from their point of view about John McCain and Sarah Palin, I have heard the radio get shut off at least four times, by the liberal agenda media, and then come back on when someone started saying wonderful things about a muslim presidential hopeful. I hope, for America's sake and Israels', that John wins this evening. I don't believe in luck, but I'm still crossing my fingers and my toes. I have a feeling that it may be rigged no matter what - just seeing how far O'Bama has come, even after all the "lies and video tape."
