Israeli Intelligence Chief: Iran passed nuclear threshhold

In a chilling indication that Iran's arms program is advancing steadily, Israel acknowledged for the first time that Teheran had mastered the technology to make a nuclear bomb on the same day that the Iranians announced they had successfully tested a new air-to-surface missile.

Iran has "crossed the technological threshold," and its attainment of nuclear military capability is now a matter of "incorporating the goal of producing an atomic bomb into its strategy," OC Military Intelligence Maj.-Gen. Amos Yadlin told the cabinet on Sunday.

"Iran is continuing to amass hundreds of kilograms of low-enriched uranium, and it hopes to exploit the dialogue with the West and Washington to advance toward the production of an atomic bomb," he said.

Yadlin said the Islamic republic hoped to use the expected dialogue with the Obama administration to buy time to procure the amount of high-enriched uranium needed to build a bomb.

Comment by clif atkin on March 9, 2009 at 2:24pm: the scenario is going to be played like this, just before launch or slightly after launch of the nuclear missle, Israel will destroy it. this will cause a nuclear blast, either on the ground or in the air, a mushroom cloud will envelope the area and cause many deaths. those deaths will be blamed on Israel, but acutally they are the fault of the mullahs. all of the muslim world then will call for attacks on Israel. if attacked Israel will respond with the force of their great defensive machine. if this scenario is no played out and Israel bombs the nuclear facility before launch, the same last chapter will occur. keep in mind that Israel has the ability to send over a drone, which can pinpoint targets, as they have in the past, the targets can be sitting mullahs all the way up the line. this is also a possibility. this cataclysmic event can occur sometime this year, as you have read the obama cozying up to iran, n korea, taliban. he is anther neville chamberlain, "peace in our time".

As they talk they sip cognac and scotch and smoke hashish and watch dancing girls (and boys). Ah-my-dinner-jacket says to all gathered - we are just about there. Our mahdi is now running the great satan. The only question to decide is who we bomb first now we have the bomb. One mullah says put in on a boat and sail it up the hudson river. Another says no we sail it up the thames. Then Ah-my-dinner jacket says no, we pass it on to Syria who passes it on to hamas who ...

Aaargghh, I don't even want to think about it.
