Palestinian Authority security forces detained two men on Thursday suspected of involvement in a deadly shooting attack at the Bani Naim junctions southeast of Hebron in which four Israeli adults and an unborn child were killed on Tuesday.
Following the incident, Palestinian security forces in the West Bank carried out one of the largest arrest sweeps in history, reportedly bringing in over 300 suspects in efforts to locate the culprits.
Palestinian Authority security forces have vowed to arrest Hamas members and bring order to the West Bank, according to a Thursday report by London daily Asharq Al-Awsat.
"We arrested hundreds of Hamas members, and we'll continue to do so," a high-ranking Palestinian Authority official, reportedly Mohammed Dahlan, told Asharq. "We will prevent them, however we can, from bringing anarchy to the West Bank. We will hit them with an iron fist."
The vehicle from which the attack was carried out was located on Wednesday, and the evidence had apparently led the authorities to the suspects apprehended on Wednesday.
The suspects are two Hamas-affiliated residents of Hebron.
It remains to be seen, however, whether the suspected attackers in the murderous attack will be charged or tried. If they are released, as has usually happened in the Palestinian "revolving door" policy of law and disorder, Israeli security forces may use the iron fist themselves to bring the murderers to justice.
