UPDATE: The court has yet to issue a statement on the subject. It has been reported that there will be announcement on Monday morning. There is also a press conference scheduled that morning at the National Press Club in Washington, sponsored by the "We the People Foundation" which ran ads in the Chicago Tribune accusing Barack Obama of being a "usurper." The press conferences will also be atted by some representatives of the plaintiffs in the various eligibility challenges, but not Leo Denofrio, who said he would not be attending and pulled back from his previous claims of the significance of having been on the Supreme Court's docket Friday.
Here is the AP's mocking report, dismissing plaintiffs as "conspiracy theorists."
The long-awaited Supreme Court conference on Leo Denofrio's challenge to the eligibility of US presidential candidates occurs Friday in Washington, as all nine Justices reportedly discuss whether to grant an emergency "stay" on the American presidential electoral process.
A stay would mean that a delay in the deliberations and vote of the Electoral College until Barack Obama, and perhaps John McCain as well, can prove that they are in fact "natural born citizens" and thus constitutionally qualified to be President of the United States.
Since June, questions have been raised as to whether Obama was in fact born in Hawaii as he claims, or whether he may have been born elsewhere, such as Kenya, the nationality of his purported father, where several sources, including family members have claimed he was born, and whether someone who has admitted dual nationality can in fact serve as President. Denofrio, a New Jersey attorney and world class poker player, sued the New Jersey secretary of state for inadequately screening Obama, McCain, and a third party candidate -- all of whom, he claims, are not in fact "natural born citizens."
Although rejected by the NJ Supreme Court, and then by SCOTUS associate justice Souter, Denofrio's case was referred by Associate Justice Clarence Thomas and then by the full Supreme Court for conference. If four of the justices determine that the case has merit for further consideration, it would be referred for oral arguments and presentation of evidence. It is even possible that the request for an emergency stay could be granted today if 5 justices concur.
In either of these events, the American political system would be thrown into unprecedented turmoil and the United States would be on the verge of a profound Constitutional crisis, with the Supreme Court questioning whether Obama in fact is eligible to be President or whether he is in fact a "usurper" who has concealed his identity to prevent revelation of his lack of natural born US citizenship and thus to illegally presume to be elected to a position for which he is not qualified by the Constitution.
Lending credence to the claim that Obama has something to hide is his continuing refusal to offer a wide variety of documentation of his identity and history, including hospital records, school records, and professional records. A report yesterday in World Net Daily raised further questions in revealing that a member of a law firm with close links to Obama had advocated in 2006 -- as the Illinois senator was considering a run for the US Presidency -- the abolition of the Constitutional requirement that the President be a "natural born citizen," suggesting that this action may have reflected knowledge that Obama was in fact foreign born and thus unqualified for the office.
The Denofrio case is just one of about 20 civil suits that have been filed concerning Obama's legitimacy. In another important development this week, attorney Philadelphia attorney Phillip Berg reported that his appeal to the Supreme Court would also be granted a conference of the justices in the coming days.
The conference by the SCOTUS has given the Obama eligibility a prominence and legitimacy in the eyes of mainstream media that it had previously lacked, and there has been growing coverage in the past two weeks. Prior to the election, those media that raised these issues -- Israel Insider was among the first -- were dismissed as indulging in "smears" rather than researching and presenting a subject that now has been stamped as worthy of discussion by the highest court in America. Regardless of the outcome of today's conference, it has attained a level of prominence that will make it difficult to ignore.
